Over the Hill: Pine Creek Cafe

Finally made it over the hill to Livingston this past weekend to see the Prairie Windjammers at the Pine Creek Cafe. The music was a mostly traditional bluegrass with well executed covers (Foggy Mountain Breakdown, etc). Good vocal harmonizing and instrumentation made for a pleasant evening.

The food: For starters we shared shrimp quesadillas (good, not brilliant) and trout cakes (excellent). Starters: ribs x 2 (heavy on chipotle, tender, a bit dry. Potato gratin dense, not much flavor), trout tacos (above average for Montana- good execution), and grilled trout (fresh, well cooked, well presented). Dessert: brownie sundae (perfectly fine). Wine: Amalaya Malbec $26/ bottle (great value). Service, friendly and efficient.

Conclusion: Combined with some excellent live music, an above average quality, reasonably priced meal made for a thoroughly enjoyable evening.
